Life Recently

Been a busy bee recently. But My Instagram never fails to be convenient.

It has been a looooong winter. But up here in Scotland we are used to it. {Well most of us, I've heard a lot of negativity about the weather which doesn't help anyone} There is a wee contrast in these trip photos. cold^ and warm>

Spring time walks at Bamburgh Bay and Seahouses. I love the seaside shop there. It has everything!

Spending time with my Pa restringing my guitar and listening to him play.

Meeting up with my gal pals for tea and cake in my hometown.

Finally feeling Summery and Spring like. At least the suns saying hello. I hope to get out more and start stretching my legs on my bike and getting some more photo memories. Winter has dampened a lot of us but no point dwelling that it still rains. Get on with it! Lets make Summer 2013 a good one!!

sketch booking

The one little pleasure in life I love is Sketch booking {and journalling}. Another little joy and privilege is being able to look into other peoples sketch books. If you ever attended college or any art course. Looking through fellow artisans books was extremely endearing and inspiring. {My friends still do this when they come round}.

I was always amazed at how differently someone thought and expressed themselves. My first memory of this was looking through old drawings my mum did of our childhood cats. {my mum is so very talented at drawing I wish she would pick it up again, she was my earliest inspiration to draw and doodle when I was little}.

My favourite memory was at high school taking a trip with Art class up to the Edinburgh College of Art, which was like a Mecca to all of us at the time. {Though now I prefer the Glasgow school} I was drawn straight to the sketch books. They were torn and fat and had stuff sticking out of them and just looked full of life.

I will always love making sketchbooks, I have recently channelled this into making journals. Not always about life but anything. It helps when I'm having trouble with time to make things to make even just a page or set up a few pages for when I want to fill them. Sometimes I cut pictures, textures, colours out of magazines and put them onto pages like a mood board. There are so many ways to keep a sketch book. The main thing is that you are recording your visions and ideas in your own way.

Blythe: Pretty in Pink

A little bit of Blythe.

I started making her an Easter outfit.

It's harder than you think to make clothes for small people. I'm having a lot of trial and error. Fun outfits made from felt are the best method so far.

Hope you all enjoyed a great Pancake day and have a lovely Valentines Day with a loved one or on your own. We are all loved. xoxo

Hello Blythe

I have joined the craze. These dolls are just amazing. And a chance to develop my crochet skills. Lastnight after a wee road trip I relaxed with a cuppa and experimented with some crochet. I'm still a total beginner but thanks to youtube and many inspiring photos on Pinterest {follow me!!} crochet is easy to sort of shape to what you want. I kind of went for a forest nymph style dress. Forest is my current obsession of course. The yarn works so nicely merged together.

The thing about the shape of the body is you can base sizes around Barbie clothes. The length of the body is slightly shorter but the shape is pretty similar.

I did think maybe it was a little childish to own a doll like this. But why not? They are perfect for designing and making outfits you can only dream of. As a woman that's just brilliant. The possibilities are literally endless. And one day I can hand them down.

Happy Friday

Thrifty Happy

I haven't really had a good chance to go round the Charity shops. And when I have my imagination has never been its best. Holibobs to the rescue! Coz I found a good few gems this week.

A cosy Yorkshire blanket for A/W 2013. This was only £3.50. It's huge. I saw 2 in another shop that were 4 times that price and no where near the condition.

A set of 4 Pyrex cups for only £2. I love the colours. So happy they were still in a set coz they were just popped in a section for mugs and cups for 50p each!

I have finally found a wee guitar. part of the 5 things I want to own in 5 years. Only the record player to go!! It is missing a string and bashed up a bit but with a little love it will look amazing. And something to get back into. it was only £6 which really swung it for me. When I bought it the BF said he'd carry it home and then started to serenade me on the walk home. He can't play so it was all plinky plonky noises. But ever so sweet!

I'm obviously collecting for my eventual ownership of a record player. but these covers caught my eye. I shall listen to them when the time comes but I want to pop these up on the walls in our flat. so pretty and Spring like.

A great source of inspiration. Love old Nature books.

A girl can't have enough Judy!

I also acquired some coned yarn. All by interacting with the people in the shop. Nothing wrong with having a chat with another human.

I went to Peebles at the weekend in hope of some goodies but I was thrown by the rudeness and ignorance of fellow shoppers. And my favourite shop was closed. Bad times. I love chatting with the folk in the shops. Ask questions. You never know what they have back there.

I also have another knitting machine on its way. Which i cant wait to try out. I suppose I better make room. *Queue Spring Clean mode*
